Good Friday, also known as “Holy Friday”, commemorates the passion, crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ at Calvary. Good Friday is observed by Christians on the Friday immediately preceding Easter Sunday with solemn prayer and thanksgiving. The “Good” in Good Friday is because only Jesus Christ, a spotless sacrifice without sin, could atone for man’s sins and reconcile man with God.
