Metastatic Breast Cancer Day is October 13, 2022. Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC), also called Stage IV breast cancer, is breast cancer that has spread to other vital organs, typically the bones, liver, lungs, and brain. MBC is made up of cells from the original tumor that developed in the breast. If breast cancer spreads to the bone, the metastatic tumor in the bone is comprised of breast cancer cells, not bone cancer cells. MBC can occur 5, 10, or 15 years after a person’s original early-stage diagnosis, successful treatment, checkups, and annual mammograms. Treatment for metastatic breast cancer is lifelong, the goal being control and helping to maintain a good Quality of life.
During treatment for metastatic breast cancer, it is important to manage your feelings and protect your well-being. For more information about metastatic breast cancer visit: http://mbcn.org/
